Export market research · Built on your HS code

Export your product by knowing demand.

Ask an exporter why he sells to Dubai and the honest answer is usually that Dubai is where the first enquiry came from. Twelve years later, still Dubai. Meanwhile Germany buys over ₹8,000 crore of the same product every year and has never heard of him.

Send us your HS code today. Tomorrow you'll know the twenty-five countries that actually buy what you make, what each one pays per tonne, and how little of it is going there from India.

The question nobody asks first

Do you know which countries import your product, and how much of it India already supplies?

Every exporter knows his HS code. Ask him to name the top five importing countries for it and the room goes quiet.

That isn't a failure of intelligence. Nobody hands you this information. It sits inside published trade statistics that almost no exporter in India has the time or the reason to go and assemble. So the market ends up getting chosen for you — by whoever happened to write in, or whichever exhibition had a stall going cheap.

01

Where is the demand?

Twenty-five countries, ranked by what they actually spend on your product. Not opinion, not somebody's forecast. Customs declarations.

02

Where is India missing?

Of those twenty-five, how much is already going from India? A big buyer that India has ignored is an open door, and it stays open until somebody walks through it.

03

What does each one pay?

Price per tonne, country by country. The same goods fetch five and a half times more in one market than in another. Most exporters have never once seen this number.

A worked example, start to finish

Take one ordinary product.

HS 3918 — floor coverings of plastics, in rolls or tiles. Vinyl flooring, the sheet that goes down in offices, hospitals and showrooms. India has the polymer, the extruders and the labour. There is nothing about this product we cannot make.

Here is what the five tables say about it.

About this example

Every figure below is drawn from the 2017–2021 reporting years and stays fixed, so you can check the whole worked example against one period. Your own report is not this period. It covers the most recent five years countries have reported — currently through 2025.

1  ·  Where the demand actually is

Top import markets, HS 3918, 2021 · US$ '000

The world bought US$ 13.79 billion of this in 2021 — roughly ₹1.1 lakh crore — against US$ 7.99 billion five years earlier. Up 73%. This market is still opening, not closing.

Now put India's shipments next to those same buyers.

This is the table that tends to change the conversation.

2  ·  Where India isn't

India's share of each import market, HS 3918, 2021

US$ '000. A country marked < 221 is one India ships so little to that it doesn't make our own top twenty-five list — so the true figure is somewhere between that and nothing at all. We show the ceiling rather than guess at the number. Nine of these twelve take under a quarter of one per cent from India; only the United States, Saudi Arabia and Italy are exceptions.

Germany spent over ₹8,000 crore on plastic flooring in 2021. India's share of that was under three-hundredths of one per cent. No tariff was blocking us and no buyer had refused us. We just weren't there.HS 3918 · Germany · 2021

The output

Which gives you a list.

Six countries. Big, still growing, and buying next to nothing from India. Anyone in this product who read nothing else on this page now has somewhere to start on Monday — with the size of each market, how fast it is moving, and exactly how much room is left in it.

Import values US$ '000, 2021. Growth is 2017 to 2021. India's share as in table 2 above. Ranked on market size weighted by five-year growth, limited to countries where India's share sits below 0.15% — a fifteenth of what a proportional share would be.

4  ·  Somebody else aimed at it

Exports to the world, HS 3918 · US$ '000

Viet Nam India

In 2017 India shipped 4.3× more of this than Viet Nam did. Four years later Viet Nam was shipping 9.9× more than us. And Cambodia — which exported nothing whatsoever in 2017 and 2018 — closed 2021 at US$ 39.97 million, about half of India's entire world total for the code.

Viet Nam didn't build a better product than ours. They just went where the buyers were.

Fall in India's average realisation, 2017 to 2021

Same four-digit code, same year, same country shipping it. India's average realisation slid from US$ 2,950 a tonne in 2017 to US$ 1,645 in 2021 — down 44% — while the tonnage we shipped nearly doubled. More containers going out, less money coming back per container.

Ecuador paid US$ 4,894 a tonne for this code in 2021. Greece paid US$ 895. If you have been quoting the same rate to every party who writes in, one of those two has been paying for the other.

One thing to be clear about

You almost certainly don't sell vinyl flooring.

Which is exactly why we picked it. Vinyl flooring is about as dull as a product gets — no craft heritage, no story, no clever positioning. Plastic sheet in a roll, and a set of numbers anybody can go and check.

Nothing above came from knowing anything about flooring. All of it came out of the tables.

Run those same five tables on basmati, on surgical gloves, on brake pads, on turmeric, on machine tools, on handloom cotton, and the same shape turns up. There is a Germany inside every HS code — some large buyer, growing every year, that India has never once gone after properly. Yours is sitting there today. Nobody has shown it to you.

HS 3918 — Floor coverings of plastics, whether or not self-adhesive, in rolls or in the form of tiles. Reporting years 2017–2021. Built from official customs declarations as reported by each country. Your report follows this exact structure, at 2, 4, 6 or 8-digit level, for the latest five years on record.

What it costs

Less than the courier bill on one set of samples.

A stall at a foreign exhibition runs into lakhs. A market entered on a hunch costs you a year. One container quoted at the wrong rate per tonne can cost more than this report does on the very first shipment — and you won't even find out that it did.

  • Before you book the stall

Go in knowing which of the countries walking that hall actually import your product, and what they pay for it. Three days is enough for six real meetings or forty polite ones.

  • Before you send the quotation

Table 04 shows what every destination has genuinely paid per tonne across five years. Quote off that instead of off the fear of losing the enquiry.

  • Before you open a new market

The countries buying heavily from the world while India sits under half a per cent. Short list, specific to your product, and nobody else in your line is reading it.

Who this is for

Anyone who has to choose a country this quarter.

Manufacturer-exporters

You make it and you already export somewhere. The only real question is which country to open next — and whether the one you'd half decided on is worth the airfare.

Merchant exporters and trading houses

You can source almost anything. Knowing which codes have large, growing buyers that India under-supplies tells you which lines are worth picking up in the first place.

First-time exporters

You have the product, you have the IEC, and no idea where to begin. Begin with the twenty-five countries already buying it — not with whoever answers a cold email.

Anyone booking an exhibition

Know the demand trend of the countries whose buyers walk that hall, and what they pay per tonne, before you pay for the stall. It changes what you put on display and what you write in the quotation.

How we work

Everything here is checkable. That's the point.

You're buying research, so the only thing that really matters is whether the numbers hold up. Ours are built to be argued with.

Reported figures, not estimates

Every number comes from the official customs declarations that governments file with the international trade bodies. Nothing is modelled, forecast or filled in by hand. If a figure looks wrong to you, it can be traced back.

The whole sample is on this page

All five tables for HS 3918, complete, before you spend a rupee. Most services show a blurred screenshot and ask you to trust them. Read ours, check it, then decide.

We tell you if your code is thin

Some codes carry very little world trade, and a table of small numbers helps nobody. Ask before paying and we'll say so plainly, even when it costs us the order.

One payment, nothing recurring

You pay once, per code. No subscription, no auto-renewal, no card kept on file. Payment runs through Razorpay, so your card details never reach us at all.

A person answers on WhatsApp

Not a chatbot and not a ticket queue. Message the number below before or after you order and you'll have a reply the same working day.

Reworked if it isn't usable

If a figure isn't clear, or the layout doesn't suit how you need to use it, say so and we'll redo it. A report you can't act on is worth nothing to either of us.

Order

Pay, and send your codes in the same step.

Add the codes you want, tell us where to send the report, and pay. No account, no email chain, and nothing to chase afterwards.

Your codes

Don't have your code to hand? It's on your shipping bill and on every export invoice you've raised — that's the quickest place to find it. If you haven't shipped yet, your CHA or freight forwarder will have it, and the DGFT and customs tariff schedules are public. The code you give us is the one we research.

Where to send it

Rather ask something before you order? Message us on WhatsApp +91 72496 97184 and we'll tell you what the data looks like for your code before you spend anything.

Questions

Before you order.

What do I actually have to send you?
Your HS code, at 2, 4, 6 or 8 digit. If you already export, it's on your shipping bill and on every export invoice you've raised — that's the fastest place to get it, and it's the code customs actually applies to your goods, which is the one worth researching. We don't need your company documents, product photos or export history.
Where do I find my HS code?
On your shipping bill, and on every export invoice you've raised. If you haven't shipped yet, your CHA or freight forwarder will have it, and the customs tariff and DGFT schedules are public.

We research the code you give us — we don't classify products. Classification is genuinely contentious at six and eight digits, it depends on your product's exact composition and end use, and the code that matters is the one customs actually applies to your consignment. That's a call for you and your CHA, not for us to guess at from a description.
How many codes can I order?
As many as you like, in a single payment. It's a flat ₹1,699 per code — no packages, no minimum, no discount you have to ask for. A trading house running eight product lines can order all eight at once and get them together.
Where does the data come from?
Official customs declarations. Every country records what crosses its border and reports those figures to the international bodies that compile them — that reported data is what your tables are built from. Nothing is estimated, modelled or forecast; every figure is a number a government actually filed, which is why you can check any of them. What we don't publish is which compilation we draw on and the method we use to reconcile five separate extracts into one comparable set. That reconciliation is the work you're paying for.
My product sits under a 4-digit code but I only make one item in it.
Then ask for the 6 or 8 digit and we'll run it at that level. The broader code shows you how big the whole category is; the narrower one shows your exact line. Plenty of exporters take one of each — at ₹1,699 a code that's a cheap way to see both the category and your own line.
Why not just take a trade-data subscription?
Because a subscription gives you a search box and leaves the work with you, which is why most of them go unused after the first month. This is the finished job: five tables, each one chosen because it answers a decision you actually have to make, built around your code and ready to read. You're paying for the answer, not the tool.
Will you tell me which country to pick?
The tables are built so that it becomes fairly obvious — countries sitting high in table 01 and low in table 02, exactly like the shortlist further up this page. That's your candidate list. What we won't do is pretend to know your capacity, your margins or your buyer relationships. That judgement stays with you.
How current is it? The sample on this page runs to 2021.
The sample is deliberately fixed at 2017–2021 so the whole worked example hangs together and every figure in it can be checked against a single period. Your own report is not that period — it runs the latest five years for which countries have reported complete figures, currently through 2025. Trade statistics are published with a lag of several months to a year depending on the country, so the most recent full year available on the day you order is the last column in your tables.
Really 24 hours?
24 working hours. Order on a weekday and you'll have it the next day; order late on a Saturday or over a public holiday and it moves to the next working day. Reports go out in the order they come in, and if something about your code needs clarifying we'll message you the same day rather than guess.

The difference between your exports today
